Padel in Puglia: A Practical Guide for Visitors
Where to play, how to get there and what to sort before you swap the coast for the court.

To play padel on a Puglia holiday, choose a club close to your base, confirm visitor requirements and reserve a court or a suitable game before travelling. In Nardò, Centro Sportivo Happiness is a concrete starting point: its own website lists six indoor padel courts, equipment hire and bookable coaching.
This guide concentrates on Nardò and the surrounding Salento area, where Amici plays. It is not a directory of every Puglian club. Independent visitors should confirm their arrangements with the club; an Amici retreat brings a separate package of hosted activities and transfers.
A verified place to play: Happiness in Nardò
Centro Sportivo Happiness lists its address as Via Penta 3, Nardò, in the province of Lecce. The club describes six indoor padel courts under a geodesic cover, equipment rental and lessons with FITP-qualified instructors. It also describes itself as a recognised padel Club School with competitive and non-competitive activity.
The club’s main booking link leads to WanSport. Start with that link or contact the club directly to ask about a visitor booking, lesson or suitable partners. Do not assume that a booking provider used elsewhere in Italy is the right channel here. Published facilities are not a promise of space on your preferred day, rental stock or an English-speaking coach.
Amici’s FAQ names Happiness as our playing venue. Independent court hire there does not include Amici coaching sessions, hosted matches, hotel stays or transport.
Nardò, the coast or a wider Puglia trip?
Nardò gives you a town base for the club and time away from court. Italy’s official tourism portal highlights its baroque architecture and identifies Santa Maria al Bagno, Santa Caterina and Sant’Isidoro as its Ionian coastal districts. It also places part of the coastline within the Portoselvaggio and Palude del Capitano park.
Choose between town and coast according to how you want to spend the hours around play, then check the actual route from your accommodation to Via Penta. A coastal address is not the same as staying beside the courts. Leave space for changing, lunch and the return journey instead of planning consecutive activities on opposite sides of your base.
If your wider trip is based around Bari, Brindisi or elsewhere in Puglia, search locally first or deliberately plan a Salento stay. A club described as being ‘in Puglia’ is not automatically convenient for every regional itinerary. For walks or visits in the park, check current access guidance and conditions rather than assuming every route is open.
Getting to Salento and onward to the club
Compare journeys through Brindisi and Bari against your dates and final destination, not just the flight price. Check current airline schedules yourself; routes and seasonal services change. If travelling independently, arrange the onward trip to your accommodation and the separate club journey.
Terravision publishes a Brindisi Airport–Lecce bus service. Check its current timetable, boarding and arrival stops, booking terms and luggage information before relying on a connection. Arrival in Lecce is not arrival at the Nardò club: you still need an onward plan.
For a late arrival or evening match, verify the last return service or pre-arrange a transfer. If hiring a car, check collection times, parking at your accommodation and the court location. Do not assume local public transport will fit every session.
Amici’s FAQ offers transfers from Brindisi or Bari airports, or Bari station, with the return journey included. Confirm your exact arrival arrangements with the team before buying travel. This is our retreat service, not a transfer provided with an independent court booking.
Booking, partners and playing level
Send the club your dates, group size, level and preferred session length. If you already have four players, ask for a private court. If you are travelling alone or as a pair, ask about social games, finding partners or a lesson. Give a description of your experience rather than only a rating from your home club.
Elsewhere in Puglia, a club may offer Playtomic open matches. Its help centre explains how to search by location and date and join without bringing a team. That is an option only where the club offers it, not a guarantee that a suitable game will fill during your stay.
For a first attempt at padel, ask for beginner coaching and the language of instruction. For experienced players, explain whether you want competitive matches or a relaxed holiday hit. Confirm the arrangements rather than arriving expecting reception to produce three compatible players.
Paperwork, equipment and a realistic budget
Ask about eligibility before payment. FITP’s guidance states that membership is mandatory on affiliated clubs’ affiliated courts and that competitive and non-competitive athlete cards require the relevant medical certificate. Tell the club you are visiting from abroad and ask which registration, certificate and identification arrangements apply to your intended session. A casual booking and a federation competition are not interchangeable.
Happiness advertises equipment rental, but confirm availability, fees and what is supplied for your booking. Pack court shoes and comfortable kit, and ask whether balls are included. If you want to borrow a racket on an Amici trip, ask the team rather than assuming playing kit means racket hire.
Request a total quote: court or match fee, coaching if wanted, equipment, balls and any registration costs. Check whether the amount is per person or for the whole court and add transport. Prices depend on the venue, time and session; this guide does not promise a fixed local rate. Read the cancellation terms before paying.
When to play and how to pace the day
Plan around the forecast and your own tolerance for heat, not a guarantee of holiday sunshine. For hot days, ask about earlier or later sessions, build in water and recovery breaks, and avoid stacking a demanding match immediately after a long outing. For outdoor courts, ask how wind or rain affects bookings.
The indoor courts advertised at Happiness provide a covered option. Indoor does not establish air-conditioning or a particular temperature, so ask about conditions if that is important to you. For spring or autumn travel, bring a layer for time away from play and check forecasts close to departure.
Leave an unhurried gap for Nardò’s historic centre or the coast. Those are suggestions for your own free time, not a promise that a specific excursion appears in every retreat itinerary.
DIY Puglia padel or an organised retreat?
Arrange it yourself if you want to add a game to a wider Puglia holiday and are happy booking accommodation, court time and transport separately. It works especially well when you already have playing partners. Keep a backup plan if matchmaking or your preferred slot is unavailable.
Choose Amici if you would rather have the sporting and social programme organised together.
